Africa leaps forward in child protection

Incredible! On top of being the world’s newest nation, South Sudan became in July 2011 the 30th nation to prohibit corporal punishment of children, even by parents. They are the third African nation to do so after Kenya and Tunisia. No such legislation on the horizon in Australia yet – we are well behind South Sudan and other developing nations in this regard.
